Christmas is the time to celebrate our food tastes and traditions. Now here’s a chance to taste and buy locally produced foods, all from north and east Mayo. “Meet the Maker” is a Food Producers Showcase presented by Mayo North East LEADER Partnership. It will be held in the Foxford Sports andLeisure Centre on Wednesday, 30th November, from 6-9pm. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.

The showcase will be officially opened by Mr Peter Hynes, Mayo County Manager.

Food stalls will include everything from baking to boxty, from duck eggs to dumplings and from honey to savoury pasties.

You’ll even find ethnic foods produced right here in Mayo. Come along, have a taste and support local food producers by bringing some Mayo produced goodies home. You’ll recognise some of the foodie treats on offer but others are brand new to the market and you’ll be amongst the very first to taste them.

Mayo North East LEADER Partnership has worked with over 70 different food producers in the north and east Mayo areas over the last year. Some of those are in development stages and others are in production and supplying locally or further afield. “Meet the Maker” Food Producers Showcase celebrates the completion of this Small Food Producers Training and Development Programme 2011/12.

This project is assisted by Mayo North East LEADER Partnership Company through Rural Development Programme which is part-financed by the European Union and the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.
