Haemochromatosis is an iron overload disorder and is one of the most common but under-diagnosed hereditary disorders. This iron is deposited in various organs, mainly the liver and also in the pancreas, heart and joints.
It is more prevalent in Ireland than anywhere else in the world. Symptoms include chronic fatigue, joint pain, diabetes, loss of sex drive and irregular heartbeat. Early detection and treatment will prevent complications developing from this frequent and potentially fatal genetic disorder.
This public information evening will provide an opportunity to learn about the condition and meet other people interested in the disorder.
The information evening is free of charge, booking is not necessary and light refreshments will be served.
