A survey is being carried out in Swinford this week to discover what local people think about the area and the organisers, Swinford Community Futures Group, is also interested in hearing from residents about the changes they would like to see in the East Mayo town.

The survey will be delivered to every house on the 23rd of February and collected on the 27th. All survey responses will be absolutely confidential and will be returned in a sealed envelope which will only be opened by the Mayo county council co-ordinator who is working  with the Swinford Community Futures group on this project.

Said a Swinford Community Futures spokesperson: "Once we have collected local views we will be able to see what the main priorities are.

"These views and the priorities for action will be reflected in our own Swinford Community Action Plan. The plan will be used to influence

development in a way that most people would like."

The Plan will include:

• The Community’s vision for the future of the area
• The Community’s views about the area now
• The Community’s priorities for projects and actions A local Swinford Community Futures group has been in place since October and meets

every Tuesday night in the Gateway Hotel at 8pm.
