The pair and their service crew traversed the country in their quest for the championship.
Their year began at the Galway International Rally, this event was not a round of the Citroen Racing Trophy, but proved to be a good shakedown for there season.
Although the result was very good [12th overall] it was a very tough event for the pairing. After the first loop of three stages the Citroen crew found themselves in an impressive 12th overall, this all changed on stage 4.
Suffering a puncture they lost well over a minute to the leading crews. This didn't dampen the spirits of the dynamic duo, they fought back on the next stage and climbed a number of places up the leader board.
Just when everything was back on track and they were setting good times the car developed an electrical fault that limited the top speed.
From that point on they haemorrhaged time to the leading cars as the stages in Galway were very fast. The problem persisted until the end of the rally but through some heroic driving David & Ray fought their way back to 12th place overall.
The pair are currently preparing for the 2012 instalment of the Galway International Rally. They are hoping for an easier rally this year.
The car now fully sorted and having past experience of the event it can only be easier for them. With only a few days left until the Galway International Rally David and Ray are looking forward to the season ahead.
After Galway they hope to compete for a second year in the Citroen Racing Trophy Ireland.
The Citroen Racing Trophy Ireland starts at the West Cork Rally in March, traveling to Killarney International Rally, Donegal International Rally, Ulster Rally, Wexford Stages Rally and finishing at the Cork 20 Rally in October. With the first event only days away the pair are hoping for good season.
After ending last year on a high with a win on the Cork 20 Rally they are match fit and ready to take on the best in Ireland to claim the Citroen Racing Trophy Ireland 2012.
