Maguire claims Hat-Trick on Mayo Stages Rally

Niall Maguire rolled back the years to claim victory on the McWilliam Park Hotel and Fleet Transport Magazine Mayo Stages Rally on Sunday. With co-driver Enda Sherry, the Monaghan man had to overcome a tough battle with team-mates and Subaru WRC rivals Kevin Barrett and Sean Mullally, before a puncture for Barrett on the penultimate stage proved decisive in deciding the outcome.

Padraic Conway, Edward Conway Ltd, Castlebar, was at the launch of new the Citroën DS5 which is now available in Edward Conway Ltd., prices starting at €32,500. 

Kiltimagh students Forumla 1 dreams come to life

Students from St. Louis Community School in Kiltimagh saw their Formula 1™ dreams brought to life when they received their model of a Formula  1™ car design. They drew their design on Solid Works, sent off their design idea to be manufactured and received the fully finished racer a few days later.

Mayo moves into top gear for e-car revolution

Ballina is the latest town in Mayo to get an ESB electric car charge point which like the e-car charger in Castlebar is still undergoing engineering tests before it becomess operational. The first operational public e-car charge point in Mayo is at Castlebar Street in Westport. The Ballina e-car charger is located in Dunnes Stores car park on Humbert Street and the Castlbar charge point can be found at the busy Market Street carpark in Mayo's county town.

Westport's MTS Haulage wins Fleet Transport Award

Keith McDermott, owner of MTS Haulage, Westport, was the proud recipient of the Owner Driver Haulier of the Year 2012 trophy at the 5th annual Fleet Transport Awards held in Dublin on 3 October.  At a Gala Dinner Reception held at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Northwood and attended by over 620 representatives from the Irish Road Transport and Logistics Industry, Keith was delighted to receive this National accolade.

A European Commission proposal to make eCall road accident reporting devices mandatory on all new cars and light commercial vehicles sold in the EU from 2015 was welcomed by Jim Higgins MEP at a meeting with Digital Agenda Commissioner Neelie Kroes on Thursday. The devices currently cost under €100 to install.

The Ford Fiesta is celebrating two milestones in the summer of 2011, reaching its 35th birthday with a total of 15 million cars produced worldwide.
