CCTV to be used in crackdown on Mayo boy racers
Mayo County Council is turning to CCTV in a partnership to stamp out the scourge of boy racers doing donuts on public road endangering their lives and the lives of others. There is also the cost of repairing these junctions, it could be anywhere from €500 up to €1,000 or €1,200, depending on if a stop or yield marking needs replacement.

A road safety campaign targeting holiday makers is been launched before a busy bank holiday with a view to enhancing their awareness of road safety and enlightening them on the importance of complying with the rules of the road. Parents holiday making are also been warned not to break the law when travelling– by booking a child seat for their hire car.
Mayo roads blessed on Easter Sunday as part of road safety drive
Fr John Kenny, PP Partry/ Tourmakeady, blessed the road (N84) outside Partry Church on Easter Sunday morning after mass. Fr Kenny was among a number clerics in Co. Mayo who blessed the county’s roads in a novel ceremony aimed at reducing the number of people who die in traffic accidents each year.

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD visited Road Safety Authoirty (RSA) headquarters in Ballina, Monday for a ceremony to mark the awarding of Quality, Environmental, and Health and Safety Management System certification to the RSA. A notable feature of the 2011 competition, which ran throughout the year, was the high standard of entries and the involvement of teachers and parents in helping the students connect and understand the importance of road safety.
