Galway Ironman, Geraghty, wins Ballinrobe Duathlon ^Featured

Ruaidhri Geraghty, Galway, winning the Ballinrobe Duathlon.

Galway Ironman organiser and Galway Tri club man, Ruaidhri Geraghty, romped to victory at the Ballinrobe Duathlon beating 200 competitors. However, Ruaidhri Geraghty didn't have it all his own way during first leg (4k Run around the Bowers) as Anthony Murray from Westport pushed him all the way even leading him into Transition.

On the bike (20k) it was a different story with Ruaidhri a renown cyclist making his move putting over 2minutes into Murray over this leg.

The Ballinrobe Duathlon mens' winners podium. 1st Ruaidhri Geraghty, Galway, 2nd Anthony Murray, Westport and 3rd Ger Corcoran, Westport.

On the final leg the 4k run around the Bowers walk Geraghty coasted home finishing 1minute 14seconds ahead of Murray by the finish line on Abbey St after 28k of running and biking.
Ger Corcoran another Westport man made the podium coming 3rd.

In the Ladies race, Marie Boyle from Spiddel used her strong biking to finish 1st with Edel Tighe Tri Lakes taking 2nd and Westport's Ann Marie Egan 3rd.

The fast course made for interesting racing for the first major event in Duathlon competition with a number of local events been staged

over the next few weeks.

The organisers would like to thank all the marshals and support cars, Tri Lakes Triathlon club, Cummins Hardware, Western Lakes CC, Marrey

Bikes,SISM Castlebar, Mayo CoCo, Civil Defence, Luke Carney Restaurant, Red Cross and the Local Gardai for all their support for this Ballinrobe event.
