Funding for Mayo harbours

Funding has been announced for a number of harbours in County Mayo under the Harbours Scheme from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

A new Director of Nursing has been appointed to Belmullet District Hospital. The announcement has been welcomed by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring TD.

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring has warmly welcomed the announcement by Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht, Dinny McGinley T.D., of the allocation of €56,250 to replace and erect a new lighting system at Roonagh Pier, Louisburgh.

A grant of €352,800 has been approved for Ballyhaunis Swimming Pool for refurbishment works under the Green Swimming Pool initiative to make the pools across Ireland more energy efficient and less reliant on State support, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring TD has announced. The Minister has also announced €25,000 for Ballyhaunis Boxing Club to help improve their facilities. 

The “Thinkbig Project” in the Maple Youth Centre in Ballinrobe has been launched by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring TD The “Thinkbig Project” was funded by Headstrong (the centre for Positive Youth Mental Health) and  the O2 network.  The project "Stretch your mind" is the brainchild of Colleen Maye and won an award from O2.

New campaign to woo overseas holidaymakers West

 Minister of State for Tourism & Sport Michael Ring has announced details of a new overseas joint tourism marketing campaign from a range of funding sources to boost tourism to the Western Region from Great Britain, Germany, France and Italy. Funding of €1 million has been allocated.

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring, has welcomed funding totalling €39,000 for County Mayo to help tackle the problem of litter and graffiti. The funding has been announced by the Minister for Environment, Phil Hogan, as part of the provision of more than €2 million in grants to local authorities nationwide.

Funding boost for Mayo festivals and events

Funding of €40,000 has been approved by Fáilte Ireland, under their Festivals and Events Initiative for festivals in Mayo. Michael Ring TD, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport has wwelcomed the news, saying the festivals provide a great boost for morale and community spirit and reflect a vibrancy that is waiting to be tapped into in communities all over the country.

€50,000 approved for Coláiste Uisce

A grant of €50,000 has been approved for Coláiste Uisce, in Elly Bay, Clogher, near Belmullet, to allow them develop their activities in support of the Irish language in the college’s catchment area.
