Ballyhaunis is very busy at the moment in preparation for their 12th Annual Summer Festival. This year's opening ceremony is taking place at Ballyhaunis Community School.

Minister for Communications, Pat Rabbitte TD, has ruled out in the short term giving commercial radio operators in Ireland a share of the TV licence fee, but urged independent broadcasters to fully participate in the Government's review of funding of public and independent broadcasters.

Ten 16-year-olds from all over Ireland, including Alice Dever from Achill,  are set to battle it out to become the Ultimate Street Challenge Champion in a new six part television series to be broadcast by RTÉ this December.

The third and final episode of RTE One's hit reality TV series, ‘The Secret Millionaire’ sees millionaire, Nadim Sadek, swap his paradise island, Inish Turk Beg, off  the Mayo coast, for a small house in one of the poorest areas of inner city Cork.  For eight days he'll live alone and for the first time in his life he'll try and fend for himself on the minimum wage.
