Taoiseach lauds work of Ballina's award-winning photographers

Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD officially openied the AIB PPAI Photojournalism Awards exhibition in AIB Ballina Friday evening.Taoiseach Kenny lauded the award-winning work of Ballina photographers, Henry Wills and David Farrell, over many years, and congratulated Mr Farrell on winning a number of awards in the 2011 PPAI Photojournalism awards.

The photographic exhibition can be viewed in AIB Pearse Street, Ballina, over the next week as part of the annual Ballina Salmon Festival.

Amongst the visitors to the exhibition was Tony Hennigan from Manchester who was in Mayo to develop links between Levenshulme in Manchester and Ballina.

Tony is the press officer of the Manchester Irish Festival, which is Europe's largest Irish Festival and chair of the Levenshulme Festival which is home to the biggest Irish community outside of London.

An Taoiseach gave his full support to the intiative and added: "This part of Mayo hasa massive connection to Manchester, with people like the Kennedy's (former Knock Airport Chair and owner of construction company in Manchester) and we want those links to continue."
