Minister of State at the Office of Public Works, Brian Hayes T.D. has informed Minister of State Michael Ring that €16,200 has been allocated for the replacement of a culvert at Killateeaun, Tourmakeady.

Child Protection in Sport, Sports First Aid, Sports Leadership Training, Funding Workshops, Club Development Seminars, coach education and Disability Awareness Training are just some of the upcoming sports volunteer  training courses which will be available through the Partnership over the coming months.

Cáirde Crann Mór, Ballinrobe, has been shortlisted for the EBS National Community Fund prize of €10,000.  The organisation has already received a county award of €500 together with Ballina and Castlebar Rugby Clubs.  Cáirde Crann Mór was founded in 1998 with the intention of raising funds to support Western Care’s services the south Mayo area. 

Horse Sport Ireland concern over Disadvantaged Areas Scheme

Horse Sport Ireland has met with senior officials from the Department of Agriculture in relation to the exclusion of horses from the Disadvantaged Areas scheme. Under this scheme, which is partly funded by the European Union, farmers in disadvantaged areas receive an area based payment subject to carrying out a certain amount of farming activity.

Vote for Mayo students to win Doodle 4 Google competition

Six Mayo students have been named as finalists in the fourth annual Doodle 4 Google art competition. They are now amongst 75 Irish students in with a chance of seeing their doodle on the Google Ireland Homepage for all to see. Everyone in Mayo is now being urged to visit  google.ie/doodle4google  and vote for their favourite.

Texaco Children's Art competition search begins

For the fifty-eighth year since the competition was first held, the search is underway to find the young students who will win awards in this year’s Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

“Shortcut to Hallelujah”, Ballinrobe playwright, Mick Donnellan’s latest play, comes to the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar for two special performances on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th January at 8.00pm. From the creator of the smash hit play “Sunday Morning Coming Down” comes the latest play from Mick Donnellan.

St Stephen’s Day Time Trial was tough going

On a windy squally St Stephen's Day, day 20 brave soles through caution to the wind and lined up outside the cycling centre Ballinrobe for 16 rough kilometers, armed with Christmas dinner and a belly  full of beverages from the day before, motivation was on thin ice.
