A Mayo woman is to feature in a new RTE factual drama series "The Nurse", which starts in January, and follows the daily lives of community nurses and their patients all across Ireland.

In the first episode, Nurse Mary Walsh from Ballinrobe needs to call for helicopter assistance when the weather isolates her patient on Inishbofin.

In Coolock, Nurse Kirsten Preisler encourages a teenage girl to combine motherhood with education; and in Castleknock, Nurse John Carew fights on behalf of a Multiple Sclerosis sufferer who is struggling to maintain his independence.
 
The Nurse is will be screened on Thursday 12 January 2012 at 10:15pm on RTE One TV and the series was produced by Crossmolina-basd GMarshTV for RTÉ.
