Young Mayo artists take top prizes in Texaco Art Competition
Five Mayo students have won top prizes in this year’s 58th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.In Category B, first prize (€450) was won by Shania McDonagh (14), a student at Mount St. Michael Secondary School, Claremorris for her work entitled ‘Jack’. Other Mayo winners, all of whom won Special Merit Awards, were Anna Clark (13), Jesus and Mary Secondary School, Crossmolina; Kasper Wawro (9), Alison Ryan (9) and Aoife Quinn (8), all from Castlebar Art Club, Castlebar.
Seventy-five students descended on Google European HQ in Dublin this week to find out if their doodle had been selected as the overall winner of Google’s Irish Doodle 4 Google competition. The 75 regional winners attending the event were given the opportunity to take part in creative art and doodle classes with Sophia Foster-Dimino.

Ballinrobe students finalists in Doodle 4 Google
Two Ballinrobe students have been named as finalists in the Doodle 4 Google art competition and are now amongst the 60 Irish students in with a chance of winning the national Doodle 4 Google title. Everyone in Mayo is now being urged to vote for Shona Farragher and Seren O'Toole to bring the title to Mayo.
