A novel soccer tournament to promote Ballyhaunis Multi Use Games area took place last Friday, 4th November.

The tournament  presented with the co-operation of  Mayo County Council promoting National Recreation Week, and involved students of Scoil Iosa Ballyhaunis and support from Ballyhaunis Chamber of Commerce.

The highlight was a socceer tournament which featured children from local primary school representing their favorite European clubs such as  Man United, Germany, Real Madrid Barcelona.

An appreciative crowd crowd enjoyed the tournament which took place at 12 noon on what turned out to be a beautiful day.

Thanks is expressed in particular to Kevin Henry from Scoil Iosa who gave his time out of school hours to organise this event, to all the students who took part and also to Mayo County Council and Ballyhaunis Chamber of Commerce.

All in all it was an excellent demonstration on how the Multi Use Games area can be used and is open to all free of charge.
