Mayo schools get Irish American Partnership funding
Taoiseach Enda Kenny, TD, has welcomed funding from the Irish American Partnership for five Mayo primary schools totalling $7,500. The five schools are all in the parish of Islandeady; namely, Cornanool, Cloggernagh, Cogaula, Glenisland, and Leitir.
Scoil Raifteiri NS win Castlebar Credit Union quiz
Castlebar Credit Union school’s Quiz was held in Davitt College and the Under 13 category winners were Scoil Raifteiri NS. Joint runners-up were Clogher NS and Breaffy NS.

Castlebar councillors refuse to support fracking ban
Sinn Féin Councillor, Thérèse Ruane, has expressed her disappointment that Castlebar councillors did not back her proposal for a national ban on the process known as fracking, or hydraulic fracturing as a means of gas extraction in the Lough Allen Basin and other parts of the country.

Mayo General are top bowlers
Mayo General Hospital team A won the Castlebar Credit Union Bowling copmpetition held in Hog's Heaven Bar. The two highest scorers were Lily O’Malley (370) and Tom Gill (135).
Ballyvary FF takes stock
There was very good attendance at the Ballyvary FF AGM in The Wishing Well on Friday night last. The officer board elected was President: T.J. Kenny; Chairman: John Connor; Vice-Chair: Tom O'Brien; Secretary: Vincent Kenny; Treasurers: Ann Kenny; Membership Officer: John Dunleavy; Youth Officer: David Walsh and Pat Connor.
Castlebar Tidy Towns meeting open to public
Castleabr Tidy Towns is holding a public meeting in the TF Hotel on Monday, February 13th, at 8.30pm. The purpose of the meeting is to plan for 2012 and members of Westport Tidy Towns will give a presentation on their experiences and ideas.
