Mayo teacher, Declan Askin, from St. Gerald's Castlebar, was presented with the Outstanding Volunteer Award at the national First Lego League Championships 2012, sponsored by SAP at the Radisson Blu in Galway at the weekend. Mr Askin was attending the awards with a group of Castlebar students who were competing.

As part of their Singer Songwriter Series, Charlestown Arts Centre is delighted to  welcome John Hoban on Thursday, December 1st, at 8pm.  A native of Castlebar, John is a composer, singer, musician and author who has played and taught music all his life in the Troubadour tradition. He is highly regarded nationally and internationally for the unique and deeply personal nature of his music.

The news that funding has been ring-fenced for the Ballaghaderreen by-pass has been described by Mayo Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony, as a very positive development for industry in Mayo.
