A public meeting to discuss the EU Treaty Referendum will be held in Ballina Manor Hotel this Thursday, 3rd May, at 8.30pm. 

It is inexcusable that with only two years left of the LEADER Programme Gaeltacht areas are in the seventh month of waiting for a mechanism to distribute the funding according to Mayo Sinn Féin Councillor, Rose Conway-Walsh. The Erris councillor said she was not happy with the vagueness of the Minister’s response to a Sinn Fein Dail question and the specific question of whether community groups will get compensated for interest paid and costs involved in this unacceptable delay. 

Over 200 at Erris meeting on education cuts

Over 200 people attended the public meeting to discuss the impact of Education Cuts in Erris on Monday evening.  The meeting was organized by a group of concerned parents and chaired by former Erris Person of the year Tom Duffy.

The Ard Mor Road, Binghamstown, is almost impassable - and is one of just 168 LIS roads in the Belmullet Electoral area alone that are waiting to be repaired, according to a Mayo Sinn Fein councillor. Cllr Rose Conway-Walsh is calling for the reinstatement of the  Local Improvement Scheme to provide the funding so that local residents can repair the road that is not the responsibility of the local authority.
Despite the bad weather conditions, more than 100 people gathered in Castlebar on Wednesday to show their opposition to this government paying out €1.25 billion to yet another unguaranteed, unsecured Anglo bondholder. The lunchtime protest, organised by Mayo Sinn Féin was attended by a broad range of individuals, members  of communtity and voluntary organisations, young people, students, business owners, as well as members of Mayo Sinn Féin.
Sinn Féin Senator, Trevor O Clochartaigh, will speak at a public meeting organised by Mayo Sinn Féin to discuss the implications of the new legislation on septic tanks. This follows two meetings held by Cllr. Rose Conway Walsh in Belmullet and Newport last week, with large numbers of the public in attendance.

Around 300 people attended the public meeting about the septic tank issue organised by Sinn Féin councillor, Rose Conway-Walsh, in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel, Belmullet, on Monday evening last.  The resounding message from the meeting was that people are not going to register their septic tanks or pay any fees at least until the long-awaited Belmullet Sewerage Scheme is completed.

Mayo County councillor, Rose Conway-Walsh, commenting on the publication of Sinn Féin’s budget submission this week, said that Sinn Féin’s pre-budgets submission shows that the government has choices, but they would like the public to believe they have none.

Mayo Sinn Féin councillor, Rose Conway-Walsh, has described the requirement for farmers in S.A.C. areas to get planning permission for putting up a sheep fence under the Sheep Fencing Grant Scheme as stark, raving, mad. The scheme was opened by the Deptartment of Agriculture, and Food to assist sheep farmers in upgrading fencing on their lands.
