Admiral Brown commemoration in Foxford
The 155th anniversary commemoration of the death of Admiral William Brown will take place in Foxford on Saturday the 3rd March next. The ceremonies will commence with a military march featuring the Irish Naval Service and the Irish Army, (Renmore Barracks) which will depart from the Mayfly Hotel, Main Street, at 11.40 a.m. and will arrive at Saint Michael’s Church at 11.45 a.m.Â

Irish TV puts spotlight on Foxford
 Ramblers, hikers and walkers from the first ever Foxford Walking Festival will feature this Thursday, October 27th, on ‘Out & About in Ireland’ the IRISH TV produced weekly programme broadcast on SKY TV channel 201 at 9pm. Viewers will experience the wild and wonderful terrain around this quaint rural town in North Mayo as the walkers ramble down country roads, trek the Ox Mountain Trail and stroll the magnificent Callow Loop Walk.

Foxford exhibition shows everyday life in Mayo between 1911 and 1914
A wonderful collection of photographs, of scenes of everyday life, and fishing and hunting expeditions taken in and around Pontoon and Foxford, between 1911 and 1914 are presented in a new exhibition, which is currently running in the Foxford Woollen Mills. The exhibition was officially opened by Mr Jimmy Deenihan, Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, who was in Mayo for National Heritage Week 2011.

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD is to launch a new film about Ireland’s greatest naval hero - Foxford-born Admiral William Brown - whose exploits won independence for Argentina, and much of South America. Mr Kenny will attend a special premiere of the hour-long documentary at the 2000 seater Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on Monday, August 1, from 7.30 pm.Â
