The 155th anniversary commemoration  of the death of Admiral William Brown will take place in Foxford on Saturday the 3rd March next.  The ceremonies will commence with a military march featuring the Irish Naval Service and the Irish Army, (Renmore Barracks) which will depart from the Mayfly Hotel, Main Street, at 11.40 a.m. and will arrive at Saint Michael’s Church at 11.45 a.m.

The celebration of a Memorial mass will get underway in Saint Michael’s Church, at 12 noon.  Following this a wreath laying service will take place at the Brown Monument, and it is envisaged that Her Excellency, Dr. Maria Esther Bondanza, the Argentine Ambassador to Ireland will attend the ceremonies. 

The Irish Naval Service will also present the “Best Potential NCO in Leadership Award” to this years Irish Naval Service recipient.  This Award, which was established some years ago, is uniquely presented in Foxford annually. 

The Admiral Brown / J.J. O'Hara Perpetual Trophy Award for Best Potential NCO in Leadership will also be presented on the day.

It is also envisaged that Ambassador Bondanza will  visit the Admiral Brown Museum, including the Admiral Brown Memorial Park, on Green Road.  As this is very much a community event all are invited to attend and participate in the ceremonies.
