The actress Joyce Redman, who has died in Kent, aged 96, grew up on Bartra Island in Killala Bay, County Mayo. Joyce Redman was born into an Anglo-Irish family and spent her childhood on the beautiful island in the Moy estuary.

A documentary, ‘Tatiko: The Journey of an African Pot’, featuring the extraordinary traditional women potters of Tatiko, Nigeria, made by Louisburgh potter, Anthony O'Brien, and filmmaker, Jarlath Rice, will have its Irish Film Premiere on Thursday, 29th September, at 8pm in the Wyatt Hotel, Westport, as part of the Westport Arts Festival.
Westport gets 18th century drive-in movie theatre for Arts Fest
A 200-year-old courtyard at Westport House built by the 2nd Marquess of Sligo will be transformed into a state-of-the-art drive-in movie theatre for a series of screenings of classic movies as part of the Westport Arts Festival. Cyclists, drivers, skateboarders and pedestrians will enjoy thrillers, romances, comedies and family fun, and the surroundings of the 18th century pony and mule shelters, pheasantries, laundries, sawmills and kilns can only add to the atmosphere.
