Scott Winters, aka 'Clark' in the film Good Will Hunting, who starred alongside Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Minnie Driver was a recent visitor to Hotel Westport.

Roll out the red carpet as the stars of the future are about to be revealed. This summer, young people aged between 10 and 18 will have the opportunity to produce and star in their very own films with Action School of Film. The multi-award winning film school is offering activities throughout Mayo, with summer courses on offer in Ballina, Castlebar and Westport.

The actress Joyce Redman, who has died in Kent, aged 96, grew up on Bartra Island in Killala Bay, County Mayo. Joyce Redman was born into an Anglo-Irish family and spent her childhood on the beautiful island in the Moy estuary.

A 200-year-old courtyard at Westport House built by the 2nd Marquess of Sligo will be transformed into a state-of-the-art drive-in movie theatre for a series of screenings of classic movies as part of the Westport Arts Festival. Cyclists, drivers, skateboarders and pedestrians will enjoy thrillers, romances, comedies and family fun, and the surroundings of the 18th century pony and mule shelters, pheasantries, laundries, sawmills and kilns can only add to the atmosphere.

Thousands of people from all over Ireland flocked to Cong last weekend to see the Hollywood icon, Maureen O'Hara, open the very first Quiet Man Festival. From the opening ceremony, the famous Hollywood actress was nothing but patient with everyone - signing autographs, smiling continuously and talking to everyone she met about the times gone by.
