Ballyhaunis RFC is Ulster Bank RugbyForce 2012 winner
Ulster Bank RugbyForce, a community initiative which provides rugby clubs with support to renovate their club and upgrade their facilities, has announced Ballyhaunis Rugby Club as the Connacht winner of the ultimate rugby club support package, worth €5,000. Three other rugby clubs – Leinster’s Newbridge RFC, Munster’s Killarney RFC and Ulster’s Donaghdee RFC – were also announced as Ulster Bank RugbyForce winners.
Ballina Community Games Athletic and Swimming results
The Ballina Community Games Athletic finals were held at Ballina Athletic Club in Belleek recently.  Over eighty boys and girls competed in an array of events.Â
Ballina Dolphins swimmers go distance in Athlone
Ballina Dolphins Swimmers went the distance at last week's Connacht A Graded Gala in Longford. Seán Canavan was the first Ballina Dolphin’s swimmer to take part in the 400 Meter freestyle event and as always he did not disappoint showing great speed and ability in the water while showing of his great technical ability.Â
Funding for Ballyhaunis Swimming Pool and Boxing Club
A grant of €352,800 has been approved for Ballyhaunis Swimming Pool for refurbishment works under the Green Swimming Pool initiative to make the pools across Ireland more energy efficient and less reliant on State support, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring TD has announced. The Minister has also announced €25,000 for Ballyhaunis Boxing Club to help improve their facilities.Â
Ballina Community Games athletic finals takes place at Ballina Athletic Club Belleek on Monday, 7th May. Registration from 2- 2.30pm.Â
Ballina Dolphins young swimmers continue to set the pace achieving Division One, Divison Two and personal best times ast the Gala in Athlone.
Martin McDonagh and Martin Collins, both members of Ballina Boxing CLub, won two national titles over the weekend with both boxers putting in wonderful performances at National Boxing Championships in Dublin. Â
Ballina Dolphins swim away with medals at local gala
Ballina Dolphins Swimming Club hosted their annual Connacht B & C Gala which was again, sponsored by Ballina Beverages, at Ballina Swimming Pool. A large number of swimmers from Ballina Dolphins, Ballina, Sligo, Castlebar, Claremorris and Westport Swimming Clubs competed in the gala. Ballina Dolphins swimmers had great success in the featured swims – backcrawl, breaststroke and individual medley. Â
Mayo's sporting heroes supporting Special Olympics
Special Olympics athletes from clubs in County Mayo were among good company as they launched Special Olympics’ All Ireland Collection Day this week. The annual Collection Day will take place throughout Ireland on Friday April 27 and Cora Staunton and Ray Moylette were on hand to help launch the Castlebar collection.Â
