Both St Gerald's and Lacken Enterprise Centre won silver awards at the 2011 Crest Awards.
This year’s awards will take place in The Helix in Dublin on Thursday February 9th and will be presented by Commissioner Máire Geoghegan-Quinn.
The prestigious awards which have been running in the UK for the past 25 years, are organised in Ireland by The Galway Education Centre in association with The British Science Association and aim to recognise the Creativity in Science and Technology of work carried out by Irish students, aged 11 – 19 years of age, in the important STEM subjects in Irish Schools today.
Three levels of excellence will be awarded to students through the Irish CREST awards scheme on February 9th 2012; Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Flashback: Lacken Enterprise Centre students who won a silver award at the 2011 Crest awawrds for their work on an ultrasonic vision system for the blind.
Two teams from Mayo have been shortlisted for a prestigious CREST Awards this year. This is the second year of the awards which were presented for the first time ever in this country last year by President Mary McAleese. The teams are from St. Gerald’s College, Castlebar, Co. Mayo (2 teams) Lacken Enterprise Centre.
