Top cyclists for Mayo Youth Tour in Kiltimagh

The Mayo Youth Tour takes place in Kiltimagh over the Summer Bank Holiday weekend from Saturday, July 30 to Monday, August 1st.

This will be the third edition of the Mayo Youth Tour, which features competitions for cyclists between the ages of 10 and 16.

The 2011 event breaks new ground, with teams from South Africa and Spain’s Basque country competing for the first time. South Africa is expected to field six cyclists, while the Basque contingent will comprise five boys and two girls.

Entries are now being received from Ireland and further afield, and competitors are reminded that the closing date for entries is Friday, July 8.

Race Details (provisional):
 
Saturday, July 30: Sign on at Town Hall, Kiltimagh 11.30am to 1.30pm.
 
Saturday, July 30, Stage 1, 30km circuit, First race (U-12) starts 2.30pm; last race (U16) starts approx. 4.30pm.

Sunday, July 31, Stage 2, Time trial, first rider starts 9.01am, distance 4km, Kiltimagh to Bohola road, R321.

Sunday July 31, Stage 3, 36km circuit, First race (U-12) starts 2.30pm; last race (U16) starts approx. 4.30pm.

Monday August 1, Stage 4, Kiltimagh town centre criterium (1.2km circuit), first race starts 9am.

Prize presentations for stages 1 and 2 take place on Sunday evening; presentations for stages 3 & 4 on Monday afternoon, both at Breaffy House Hotel, Castlebar.
