Big crowds are expected in Kiltimagh this holiday weekend to see world class cyclists take part in the 3rd Mayo Youth Tour from July 30 to August 1.

Over 180 cyclists from all over  Ireland plus Spain, Holland, Scotland, the Isle of Man and South Africa will be taking part.

There will be four stages over the three days, two road races, a short time trial and a criterium.

All the stages start and finish in Kiltimagh town centre except the time trial, which is on a straight out course starting just outside the town on the Bohola road.

Sign on will be in the Town Hall, Theatre, on the Kilkelly Road, Kiltimagh, while the race headquarters is the Breaffy House Hotel, Breaffy, Castlebar. Prize presentations take place in the hotel on Sunday evening and Monday afternoon.

Race Schedule

Saturday, July 30:  Sign on at the Town Hall Theatre, Kiltimagh 11.30am to 1.30pm.

Saturday, July 30, Stage 1, First race (U-12) starts 2.30pm; last race (U16) starts approx. 4.30pm. Race route is a 30km circuit: Kiltimagh-Barnacarroll-Knock-Kiltimagh (2 laps for U16s).

Sunday, July 31, Stage 2, Time trial, first rider starts 9.01am, Kiltimagh to Bohola road, distance approx. 4km.

Sunday July 31, Stage 3, First race (U-12) starts 2.30pm; last race (U16) starts approx. 4.30pm. Race route is a 36km circuit: Kiltimagh-Bohola-Ballyvary-Balla-Kiltimagh (2 laps for U16s).

Monday August 1, Stage 4, Kiltimagh town centre criterium (1.4km lap), first race starts 9am from outside Credit Union in Main Street.
