Top of the agenda will be the impact on Irish farmers of changes to farm payments under reform of the Common Agricultural Policy and the Government’s decision to cut the Disadvantaged Areas Scheme, REPS and AEOS.
Deputy Moynihan today (Thursday) met with the European Agriculture Commissioner Dacien Ciolos at Leinster House in Dublin. The Fianna Fáil Agriculture Spokesperson raised his concerns about the serious shortcomings in the European Commission’s proposals, including the plan to introduce a flate-rate payment system.
All people in Co Mayo who are concerned about the impact of changes to their farm payments and the undermining of the agriculture sector and would be well advised to attend this meeting. The meeting will provide a clear account of the issues that must be resolved.
