Mayo farmers concerned over EU plans

Michael Moynihan T.D., Fianna Fail Spokesperson on Agriculture, Food and The Marine, addressed 250 Mayo farmers in Julians of Midfield on Friday night to discuss the impact on Irish farmers of changes to farm payments under reform of the Common Agricultural Policy and the Government’s decision to cut the Disadvantaged Areas Scheme, REPS and AEOS.

Deputy Dara Calleary said afterwards that among the biggest concerns expressed by Mayo farmers were the regionalisation proposals and their impact on Mayo as well as the implications of proposals on farm succession.

Deputy Moynihan was joined by North West MEP Pat the Cope Gallagher and local Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary and local councillors.
