Mayo Fine Gael TD, John O’Mahony, has confirmed that the threat to the future of 12 beds at Swinford District Hospital has been removed following the announcement of funding for the continuation of critical front line services.

“Because of the impending retirement of nurses and special care staff there were genuine concerns over the future of the twelve beds.

"However, with the announcement of the special funding to deal with this issue, the threat is no longer. I am delighted to be in a position have helped to putt his funding in place and to allay any fears that there may have been in the community,” he said.

Deputy O’Mahony is working on similar concerns in Ballina over the future of beds at St Joseph’s Hospital.
