Mayo people everywhere are hoping that their 2012 Rose, Deirbhile Kenny, will emerge from next week's Rose of Tralee Regional Finals in Portlaoise as one of the lucky seven Irish Roses who will go forward to the International Selection in August. The Taoiseach's niece will join Dáithí Ó Sé near the "enda" the second selection night on Saturday June 2nd, Deirbhile's weekend will be spent in the company of her room-mate, the Kildare Rose, Megan O’Neill.

All the talent and entertainment from the final of the Erris Raw Talent competition will get international TV exposure this coming week with a film crew from Irish TV capturing all the ceol agus craic from the Erris talent show.

Funding of €40,000 has been approved by Fáilte Ireland, under their Festivals and Events Initiative for festivals in Mayo. Michael Ring TD, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport has wwelcomed the news, saying the festivals provide a great boost for morale and community spirit and reflect a vibrancy that is waiting to be tapped into in communities all over the country.

Jimmy Gralton’s Dancehall is a celebration through art, theatre, music and dance of the vision and spirit of Leitrim’s Jimmy Gralton and can be seen in Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet, on Saturday, 24 March, at 8.30pm. Jim Gralton was a socilaist who holds the distinction of being the only Irishman ever to be deported from this country.

Gnó Mhaigh Eo and Mid West Radio again this year are sponsoring the St. Patrick's Day Gnó On Show [Gnó means business] bilingual float competition as part of its An Flóta is Fearr initiative.

The Strictly Come Dancing Gala Evening in the Park Hotel, Kiltimagh. on Saturday night last proved to be a resounding success, not only for the two charities involved, Coillte Childcare Centre and Western Care Local Services, but for the whole Kiltimagh Community at home and abroad.
