Minister of State Michael Ring has officially opened the new restaurant and function Room at the Ocean Lodge in Killadoon, Louisburgh.

Gardaí at Clifden are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 10.45pm last night, Friday 10th February 2012 near Leenane.

Former Liverpool and Irish international soccer star, Ronnie Whelan, surprised those taking part in Hotel Westport's popular Wellness - Fitness -  Break when he took some time out to visit the popular Mayo hotel.

There will be a public information evening in The Atlantic Coast Hotel, Westport Wednesday evening, February 8th,  from 6 to 7pm to discuss the future of the harbour.

Gaelscoil na Cruaiche in Westport and St. James’s N.S., Barnacogue, Charlestown, are participating in the Mayo County Council School Exhibition Loan Scheme and will be hosting exhibitions from Mayo County Council’s Art Collection.  The specially collated exhibitions will be on show at the schools until the end of term. The School Exhibition Loan Scheme allows a school to borrow a number of paintings from the Mayo County Council Collection for a school term. 

The new series of RTE's Operation transformation is once again joining forces with the Irish Sports Council's Sports Partnership network to encourage people to become more physically active in 2012.  A series of walks, one in each county, will take place across the country this Saturday, 14th January, with the Mayo walk taking place in Westport.

Gardai in Westport are investigating a single vehicle fatal RTC in Louisburgh on early this morning, January 2nd in which a 52 years old man died.
