The collision occurred at approx 12.35am on the 2nd January 2012 at Kilsallagh which is 4 miles outside Louisburgh on the Westport to Louisburgh Road.
One male (52), Michael Joe Gavin, Hillside, Murrisk, was seriously injured in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. He was a passanger in the vehicle.
The driver (23) and a second passenger (19) in the vehicle were uninjured in the collision.
The road is closed for a Forensic Collision examination and diversions are in place.
