Westport and Barnacogue schools host Mayo art collection exhibitions

Gaelscoil na Cruaiche in Westport and St. James’s N.S., Barnacogue, Charlestown, are participating in the Mayo County Council School Exhibition Loan Scheme and will be hosting exhibitions from Mayo County Council’s Art Collection.  The specially collated exhibitions will be on show at the schools until the end of term. The School Exhibition Loan Scheme allows a school to borrow a number of paintings from the Mayo County Council Collection for a school term. 

There are two exhibitions available, both of which have been collated especially for use in primary schools. 

The exhibitions contain works by John Albert Duigenan, Margaret Duffy, Irene Hegarty, Mary Lavelle Burke, Margo McNulty, John Laurence Speight, Amanda McMahon, Deirdre Walsh, Marianne Heemskerk, Irma van Baalen, Bernie Garvey O’ Mara, Margaret Morrison, Irene Hegarty and Tony Pilbro, all of whom have connections with County Mayo. 

The exhibitions contain work in a variety of media and are accompanied by information packs for teachers and activity packs for pupils.
